University of Nottingham Students’ Union is a student-led organisation that represents our members’ needs, protects their rights and, when it comes to making important decisions that affect them, makes sure their voices are heard. This page is for students to fundraise for personal causes.

Story

Vets in the Community is a project set up in 2012 to provide free veterinary care to pets belonging to the homeless and vulnerably housed people of Nottingham. We run fortnightly clinics in the city centre out of our new mobile trailer led by students at the Vet School, under supervision from experienced, qualified members of staff.

We provide health checks, vaccinations, micro-chipping as well as treatment for fleas, worms and minor ailments. We also deliver food, medication, and other items needed to our clients. While most of our patients are dogs, we also see some cats and even the occasional rabbit, hamster or ferret!

All of this is only made possible by donations and support. Funds are vital to keep our new trailer in pristine condition, and to ensure we have a full equipment and medical supplies for each clinic as well as pet food, pet toys, leads, collars, bedding water bowls, harnesses and warm animal jackets to offer our clients and patients.

Every year , supported by VetSoc and SB Run, we gather as many volunteers as possible and ask them to raise money by running the Robin Hood half marathon. This event is one of our biggest fundraisers and we would really like to make this year bigger and better, setting a fundraising goal of £2900! We hope you will join us in supporting them, and hopefully sponsor their efforts taking on this challenge!

A £5 donation will worm a dog for half a year or provide flea treatment for a month.

A £10 donation will provide pain relief, ear and eye drops and antibiotics.

A £15 donation will allow us to microchip a pet - which is now a legal requirement of dogs in the UK!

We appreciate any and all support - your donations bring us one step closer to providing the best care we can for our beloved clients.

Thank you for supporting Vets In The Community.
