After completing several running races over the years ive decided to now start doing different sporting events for charity. There are plenty of good causes that need and rely on charity donations. I currently cycle quite a bit and am challenging myself to a triathlon next year. Myself and two friends; Tracey and Sophie have decided to take part in Rutland Water Bike Ride-23 miles and raise money for the Air Ambulance service.

The Air Ambulance Service receive no Government or National Lottery funding, and is entirely reliant on public donations and sponsorship from events such as the Rutland Water bike ride, which we are participating in.

Your sponsorship money will go towards life saving drugs and equipment for the helicopters. Here are a few examples of what your money could buy:

£30 - Lifesaving drugs essential at the emergency scene

£80 - Specialist pelvic splints which could save someone's life.

£124 - A vacuum splint to support arm and leg fractures

£600 - Reusable 'scoop' stretcher to immobilise patients with spinal injuries whilst on board the helicopter, protecting them from further injury

Finally, £1400 could pay for ONE life saving rescue mission
