I am running my first ever full marathon in Belfast at the end of April and have decided to do some fundraising for a local community support group called Swell, based in Co. Fermanagh where I am from. Founded in 2018, the group provides recreational activities which aim to improve the emotional, physiological and physical wellbeing of those in Fermanagh who have had, are living with, or have been newly diagnosed with cancer.

This is a cause close to my family’s heart having lost my Uncle Eddie to cancer during first lockdown in 2020.

It was around the same time that I started to take running seriously and have since embarked upon a love/hate (mostly love) relationship with the sport. 3 years later it feels a little bit magical that I feel that I am somewhat capable of running a marathon when prior I could barely run a bath x
