On 31st May 2008 I am running the Stockholm marathon and any sponsorship money that I raise will be donated to the Laura Case Trust (www.thelauracasetrust.org).

The Laura Case Trust is a charitable trust that has been set up in memory of a very close friend of mine.  Laura was in her 6th and final year of her medical degree and was on her elective, working in a hospital in Uganda, when she was tragically killed in a road traffic accident last February.  The Trust, which was set up by Laura’s family and friends, aims to raise money to put towards educational and medical projects that Laura would have supported.  So far the Trust has assisted in the delivery of equipment to a hospital in Uganda and schoolbooks to a school in Tanzania.  It has also provided a spinal support wheelchair for Luke, a boy in Sussex with a painful disability.

I have decided to run the Stockholm marathon this May to raise money for the Trust and I am aiming to complete the 26.2 miles in 3 hours and 45 minutes.  This may be quite an ambitious target given that I have never done any form of competitive or distance running before so any sponsorship will be of great help in pushing me through that pain barrier!
