As my 60th (how did this happen!!?) birthday approaches, instead of gifts I would very much like to raise money for the wonderful Sunrise Oncology Centre, Royal Cornwall hospital, Truro. 

I intend to walk 60,000 steps during the week leading up to my 60th birthday, the 15th-21st May 2021. 60,000 steps, to me and my trusty walking stick (or Candy cane, as my Grandson, Rex, calls it!) is a real challenge. 

As many of you know, in June 2013 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. In Nov 2019 it was found the cancer had returned and was in the bone, my femur. This entailed a major operation in which I pretty much lost my mobility. Gradually I have regained my mobility and am back to enjoying walking. My aim is to walk the 60,000 steps during this one week, this will be, by far, the most steps I have done in a week since my operation. 

I would love to use the occasion of my 60th to say a big thank-you to those at the Sunrise Centre, who continue to care for me (and many others.) I would love to raise at least £300, but it would be fantastic to get to £600... if you feel you would like to support this challenge and donate to support others in Cornwall, that would be truly fabulous.
