3 years ago Harriet came down with what we thought was a common cough and cold. After multiple visits to the doctors over the next few days it was clear she wasn't getting any better. After a 5 day stay in Doncaster hospital with no improvement and a diagnosis of Pneumonia we were transferred to Sheffield childrens hospital, who with top of the range technology realised that the lung was surrounded with fluid which was not allowing the medicine to break through and was  essentially drowning the lung. Surgeons took the very quick decision to operate, removing the lung and draining the fluid surrounding the lung to remove the infection in an intensive 8 hour operation.

Harriet was one of the lucky ones, thanks to an amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, intensive care staff and health care workers, with multiple after care visits and an intensive stay in hospital she has happily made a full recovery. To look at this happy, fiery, determined, strong willed young girl today you would never know the ordeal she has had to endure. We will be forever thankful for the team at Sheffield for taking care of our baby and me whilst I stayed by her side for those 4 long weeks in hospital.

I wanted to give something back as a small token of thanks and managed to convince a group of my fantastic friends (while under the influence of alcohol!) to join me in the Total Warrior, 12k and 25 obstacles of mud, torture and pure fun!!
