London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 · 1 August 2021 ·
Anyone that knows me, knows I’m not really a ‘runner’. I prefer to eat lots of pasta and drink red wine. However, this is for a great cause!
On the 1st of August, I am running London’s half marathon. Unfortunately I have had a knee injury for most of my training so it could be an interesting event! Despite that, I am going to give it a bloody good go and get to the finish line!
I am running for Tommy’s charity. I have worked as a Nurse at Guys and St Thomas trust for roughly three years and it is an amazing trust to work for and be apart of. Tommy’s is a pregnancy charity that works to make the UK the safest place to give birth. They fund pioneering research to identify why pregnancy’s go wrong. This is only one of the many things Tommy’s charity does to support parents. ‘Tommy’s exists to support, care for and champion people, no matter where they may be on their pregnancy journey.’ They refuse to accept that a baby’s death is just ‘one of those things.’
“ 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss” and often due to a lack of research some parents never get to find out why. I am running on Sunday the 1st with the mindset of Tommy’s charity ‘Together, for every baby.’
I would be so grateful, and I really appreciate any penny, support or cheers you can give!
Thank you!! If you are around London way.. look for the bright red tomato, that’ll be me!
