UPDATE: Challenge Complete!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated in support of the Big Hundred on the Wee Bike, which I completed, covering a total of 174.54km and raising £2,682 for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped me support a cause very close to my heart.
Thank you!
Big Hundred on the Wee Bike
After nearly 35 years at Abercorn veterinary clinics, I am intending to hang up my stethoscope at the end of this year.
Just along the road from our main surgery at Portobello is the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. It's a really wonderful organisation dedicated to finding secure happy homes for dogs and cats in need. Over the years many dogs and cats that have received veterinary attention at Abercorn have come to their owners via the EDCH.
The EDCH is a charitable organisation, and it relies on a constant flow of fundraising, donations and bequests to keep up its essential core work of rehoming. With this in mind and as some farewell recognition of their great work I thought I would take on a sponsored challenge on behalf of the EDCH.
The challenge is called "The Big Hundred on the Wee Bike", and is a day-long hundred mile cycle from Edinburgh, along firstly the Union Canal, then the Forth and Clyde Valley Canal, up to just beyond Luss on the west side of Loch Lomond before returning to Balloch at the southern end of Loch Lomond. ( It will be a case of the train home!).
You will see from my photos, that the bike in question is on the small side – hence the name of the challenge.
Thank you for any donations you can make to support this worthy cause.
