At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hey, my name is Victoria, I am a 20 year old student at the University of Leeds and I am running the Leeds 10Km run to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

My Nanny has been suffering from this degenerative disease for many years now and I have witnessed first hand the emotional stress and difficulties it can bring to families and loved ones.

Dementia is a disease that effects both men and women equally and can, despite common preconceptions, affect the young. 800,000 people in the UK suffer from dementia and this number is set to increase up to 1.7 million by 2050. Raising funds for dementia charities is vital for providing the support and advice needed for families and sufferes that will help with day to day care and also maintain a good quality of life. Vital research into cause, care, cure and prevention of the disease can also be funded by donations helping treat people today and hopefully cure them in the future.

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page and hopefully donating to a good cause :)
