On Sunday 29 June  I am walking in memory of my wonderful, gentle, creative, clever dad, Big Rich.

In January 2001 I lost my dad to the most devastating illness, Mesothelioma.  The time during his illness were the most stressful and difficult few months I have ever experienced, as my family struggled to care for him and make him as comfortable as possible.

Five days before he died he was transferred from Wrexham Maelor to Nightingale house hospice and it was like another world. 

The quality of care provided for him and for our family in this extraordinary place was exceptional.  We were able to spend precious time with my dad during the days before he died knowing that he was being given the best care possible.

I am so grateful that my dad had the opportunity to have a dignified death in this most peaceful, tranquil and special place.

The hospice costs around £7000 to run per day and relies heavily on donations and fundraising.
