Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I’m challenging myself to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon for the British Heart Foundation after a series of tragic events last year brought home to me the importance of heart health. I'd be really grateful for your support.
Last July I was devastated when my team member, friend and colleague of 11 years, Marc, died suddenly at the age of 35 from a heart attack as he returned from a run. Marc leaves behind a 3 year old son, and his wife who is expecting their second child this March.
Just a couple of months before, in May, my work friend and teammate Tash suddenly lost her husband and soulmate, Baz, to a heart attack while he was out cycling with friends, he was 47.
They are both deeply missed by their family and friends.
And last June my own dad, a keen rower who is fit and healthy for his age, suffered a heart attack. Thankfully he was able to receive treatment and, following open chest double bypass surgery, has made a good recovery.
Marc, Baz, Dad were all fit and active men, and for each of them it came out of the blue. Undetected heart conditions can affect people of all ages and all fitness levels. I want to run to raise money for British Heart Foundation to fund research so others don't experience the same suffering and loss as my family and friends have.
I’m not a natural born distance runner. A plodding 5 or 10km is about my usual effort, so this will be a huge challenge outside my comfort zone. I’m training hard to make sure I can do it safely and well. Any money you can donate to inspire and motivate me to keep going and to raise money for this important cause will be gratefully received!
Thank you.

About the British Heart Foundation - The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. Every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
