Thank you to all for taking time to read my story!!! My dad my hero, Robert Reilly - currently in a care home 73 years old worked all his days since he was a young boy, is currently suffering Alzheimer’s Vascular Dementia, before this horrible illness took over my dad. He was a pillar of the community always helping others. My dad would always put others first! My dad used to be a very active person he was always on his feet doing something - very independent!! Since watching my dad go through this horrible illness for the past 2 years suffering I would like to give something back by taking part in this marathon for a great cause to raise as much money as possible for Alzheimer's Society. - (bearing in mind I haven’t ran 100mtrs never mind a 5k but I am so determined to do this for a great cause and I know my dad would be proud) (training starting now 👏🏻) My dad always got on at me and pushed me about keeping active & eating healthy I wish I had listened now!! My dad was a great family man, unfortunately due to his illness he hasn’t had the same opportunity to bond with my daughter his newest granddaughter ( 1 years old ) which breaks my heart as I know how much of a good papa he is to his other grandchildren before this illness took over. When I go see my dad, it is heartbreaking to see him deteriorate the way he is, to not have a clue who I am never mind my daughter - I would do anything to have my DAD back hopefully one day there will be a cure for this illness and help a lot more family’s.
