Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am part of the University of Glasgow cancer research team and lead a group that focuses on leukaemia research. By joining the Paul O'Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre (POG-LRC) within the University of Glasgow we are raising vital funds to support the leukaemia research activities that aim to improve treatment options and lives of leukaemia patients.
Hugh & Mags Forgie planned to cycle from Glasgow to the big toe of Italy (2000 miles) in July to raise funds for POG-LRC. Sadly, Hugh died of leukaemia before he could complete this, and in his memory the POG-LRC team is planning to cover the 2000 miles with lots of activities in July, to raise money for leukaemia research.
I had the honour of inviting Hugh to our “Tommy Burns
Leukaemia Research Charity Event” where he delivered a “From Patient Perspective” speech, which was truly inspirational and incredibly memorable.
To help raise awareness, and funds which will support the research within the POG-LRC, I will together with two close friends attempt a challenging 5-day trek (ca 60 miles) through the most remote wilderness and the northernmost point of the Westfjords in Iceland, Hornstrandir.
