The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

1 in 2 of us born after 1960 is statistically going to get a form of Cancer.

That’s half the population!

It can happen at any one, at any time, as I recently discovered when my beautiful mum was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer. An incurable cancer. Would you like to help us do something about this?

Join the team @vikingswims in raising money for @Macmillancancer, and help us to raise money to support people living with cancer in the UK.

Follow the @vikingswims series outlined below, and participate in fundraising or donate!

✅ August 2020 English Channel Relay record holder

✅  September 2022 - World Record attempt from Cornwall to the Scilly Isles (30 miles). Smashed world record by 4h 42mins 1s!

✅ June 2023 - North Channel Relay (21 miles) Ireland 🇮🇪 to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿  12h 03mins 🌊🤙🏼

💥August 6-9th 2024 - Cornwall to Devon (across the mouth of Plymouth sound)

💥 August 2025 - World Record Attempt from Eddystone Lighthouse to Plymouth (15 miles)

🔥August 2026 - North Channel Solo (21 miles) Ireland 🇮🇪 to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

All culminating in a little (big) project booked for the summer of 2026!

In August 2026 I’ll be attempting to swim from Northern Ireland to Scotland… solo across the North channel , the hardest of the oceans  7 (the 7 hardest swims in the world).

Under 100 people have made a successful solo crossing of the North Channel, compared to 2’428 successful solo English Channel crossings, and over 4000 people submitting Everest!

The swim is likely to take 12-14 hours in 13/14 OC water, with 2 hours of it at 11oC over a deep ocean trench.

Channel rules apply, so just a swim hat, goggles and speedoes. I cannot touch the pilot boat under any circumstances, or anyone else or I’m DQ’d, pulled out the water and taken back to land.

It’s hospitalised 3 tough swimmers I know due to the cold water exposure, and the lions main jellyfish!

Including the amazing open water swimmer and adventurer Atilla M…

The driving force to do the swim is Charity.

With my mum recently diagnosed with a form of Lymphoma, an incurable cancer, this swim other than to satisfy my desire to do a long distance solo is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support services in the south west!

I can’t take the cancer away, but I can raise money, that will help increase the support she and others including yourselves or your family members in her position can access!

Together we can make a real difference!
