Story

The MIND Mental Health Charity ice hockey team will be competing at the Allstars charity ice hockey weekend.

8 teams will battle it out on the ice to be the top fundraisers and eventual tournament winners.

We will be competing at the Allstars tournament July 2023 held in Cardiff, Wales.

I am so proud to be part of this team after a very tough few years. It's a charity close to my heart after experiencing the guilt and the loneliness of a nervous breakdown (years ago)  and after finally realizing what the problem was, i had a brilliant councilor who helped me through a very dark time that allowed me to eventually see the sunshine through a very thick dark cloud that followed me around. It was a very hard time for my family and without them i think i would have given up and left it all behind.  I didn't think i was worthy or good enough for my beautiful children even and I would not wish what i went through on anyone but i know people and very close friends and family of mine deal with this on a daily basis. I still see a brilliant therapist monthly who helps me built the mental walls i need to get through every day, and those around me make me realise life's to short for regrets and to carry anger that no longer and never helps us. We all have battles we can't see, so just be kind, patient and be good and the rest comes in time.

I'm getting back on the ice after a very difficult few years of illness and my fund raising activities will be all about my fitness. I am going to lose weight and start feeling great and get in the best shape i have been in for years. I aim to run and take part in various events and push myself to be better physically and mentally and be the best version of myself for me and those around me. This tournament is an inspiration and the lives involved and the stories, make you realise that we can all be grateful for what we have and for those around us. I am truly grateful for many things and sometimes the smallest pleasures give us the greatest rewards, we just have to be open to receiving them.

Also being able to talk to others and be inspired to help others is why i'm here doing this again. Monies raised will help fund councilors and the science behind helping people fight their own mental health struggles. So thank you for visiting and listening to a bit of my story and think you in advance for your kind donation.

If you feel you would like to speak to someone contact your doctor or local Mind center. You are never alone!
