Samaritans.   I have been volunteering with Samaritans for 22 years and it is a significant part of my life.  In 2023 we celebrate our 70th year.  Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK or Ireland dies by suicide. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and we believe that suicide is preventable.

From 200 branches in the UK and Ireland 22,000 volunteers take about 10,000 calls every day. This is now made busier by the anxieties of modern society and the costs of living being felt by so many - including the most vulnerable.  Through listening and the power of human connection, we help those who are feeling suicidal or in crisis.   Your donation today will help us save lives.

Aconcagua.   At just under 7000m altitude, Aconcagua is the highest mountain outside the Himalayas.  Its in Argentina near the border with Chile.  The high altitude and unpredictable weather make it one of the most challenging climbs.  Preparation in Nepal, the Alps and in UK has readied me for this expedition.  I set off in early January and return in February 2023.
