Amazon Climb for a Cause 2021 - Mount Shuksan · 24 August 2021

Each year, employees from local companies and foundations raise funds for Washington's National Parks by climbing Mount Rainier, Mount Shuksan (North Cascades) or Mount Olympus (Olympics). Are you ready to Climb for a Cause?

Story

I've created this page because I want to support the work of Washington's National Park Fund by raising money as part of my participation in the 2021 Climb for a Cause event through Outdoors@Amazon. I will be climbing to the top of Mt. Shuksan with 5 other Amazonians who are also raising money (each of us is raising $2,300). I personally feel very lucky and have visited the North Cascades on numerous occasions and have found it to be one of the most beautiful natural places I have visited. Those who have had the chance to see Diablo and Ross Lakes or hike around the surrounding area will know exactly what I mean. If you have read Jack Kerouac's novel Dharma Bums, you might recall Desolation Peak, where Kerouac spent 63 days during the summer of 1956 as a fire lookout. Desolation Peak is one of many famous peaks within the park.
