In December 2019, I caught a super bug which resulted in me needing emergency abdominal surgery to drain the infection from my stomach. My kidneys started failing, I went in to septic shock and I was placed in intensive care. I spent Christmas in hospital and spent 3 months in recovery. I couldn’t do anything by myself. I had minor complications and ended up back in after my small intestine stuck itself to my scar tissue, but since then (touch wood) I’ve carried on living my life which I’m very grateful for as I was given a 40% chance of not being here at all.
To some people 10K is nothing, but when I came out of hospital I couldn’t even walk, barely do anything for myself and I cried when I could finally tie my shoelaces up. So this is quite the personal achievement!
I’ve set my goal for £1k and I might not come close, but I’m aiming high and anything I can give back to those who cared for me means the absolute world. So thank you to anyone who donates, your support will get me across that finish line... in one way or another!
