Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My name is Lavanya and I am very excited to be fundraising for the incredible charity Abayam - Foundation for Health and Education (http://www.abayam.org/). 

I was first introduced to Abayam and their incredible work through my aunt, who asked if I would help to fundraise. I am honoured to be doing something I love – playing the violin – to raise funds to redress inequalities in health and education, in the most deprived areas in Sri Lanka.

Abayam Foundation for Health and Education is an independent, not-for-profit, non-political U.K. registered international charity dedicated to working in the Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka. 

• The work concentrates on Health and Education– with a strong local team, they are supporting the infrastructure, equipment needs and staff training of schools and hospitals /medical establishments in the Northern and Eastern provinces, particularly those which are small, remote and under-resourced.
• Abayam Women is an informal sub-group of Abayam-Foundation for Health and Education. Abayam Women needs your support for their projects. 
• One of their current projects is to raise SLR 13 lakhs (approx.£5,500) to refurbish the girls’ hostel for Chenaiyoor Central College in Muthur, Eastern Province, to match the accommodation and educational opportunities which are provided for the boys. Work has already begun, using the money Abayam Women has raised so far.

Due to the current circumstances, we will be supporting this charity by holding a virtual concert on YouTube live - with an hour of violin renditions of all your favourite Tamil songs. You can stream the concert on 1 November 2020 at 7pm using the following link: https://youtu.be/HBzE9IAhhXs
