Land’s End to John O’Groats - Virtual Trek · 1 April 2021

South Essex Wildlife Hospital rescues over 9,000 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals every year. We are a registered veterinary practice open 24/7 365 days a year. We provide support and advice to the community about all aspects of helping wildlife.

Story

Starting our home education journey in September 2020, we had hoped to combine some travelling and learning... (cue lockdown 2...) so instead, in January 2021, we decided to embark on a virtual trek from Land’s End to John O’Groats...a mere 874 miles and simultaneously base our learning around the geography, history and natural world of the U.K. Considering my daughters were 7 and 9 when we began this challenge, it is quite a distance!

Three months in and we have completed an incredible 600 miles! We average 10 miles a day, which during lockdown we incorporated into exercise and dog walks!

Initially our plan was not to raise money, but to complete as a personal challenge.  However, several friends suggested we raise some money for charity, so we have a chosen  to support the South Essex Wildlife Hospital, which cares for sick and injured wildlife, from all over the local area and often beyond!

If you can spare some pennies, please send them our way! Anything you can afford would be hugely appreciated by ourselves and the team at SEWH! And all the small furries that receive their amazing care!!

Much love, Maisie (9), Poppy (8) and Mummy 🐾
