Sudhir Desai is raising money for Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis
In memory of Sudhir Desai
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is a national charity that supports everyone affected by pulmonary fibrosis through information and support, raises awareness of this devastating lung condition, and funds vital research to improve treatment, find a cure, and bring hope for the future.

Story

Update: We raised £836 from donations provided at Sudhirbhai's funeral. Thank you to everyone who attended and put money towards an important cause. This page will remain open for a while.

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend Sudhirbhai Desai, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in late 2019 and sadly passed away on 15th April 2023.

Pulmonary fibrosis (lung scarring) describes a group of interstitial
lung diseases where the lungs become progressively stiffer and smaller, eventually leading to low oxygen levels in the blood. Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) affects around 70,000 people in the UK.

Studies suggest there are about 30,000 people living with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in the UK. IPF is the commonest form of pulmonary fibrosis. There are 6,000 new cases every year in the UK.

There is currently no known cause for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and sadly it is a terminal illness with no cure available.

We hope to raise funds in Sudhirbhai's name towards Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, to help raise awareness and help those inflicted by this terrible disease.
