Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am shaving my head on 19 June, my 53rd birthday, in memory of Alan Goodwin and Yvette Cowles, and in support of those I know living with cancer.
When Alan was first diagnosed with lung cancer, I told him I would shave my head for Cancer Research. Sadly, he's not here to see it happen; but I said I would do it, so I am. At the beginning of June, my friend, Yvette, died after living with cancer for over 20 years. Yvette turned 53 in May.
Both Alan and Yvette were the recipients of new treatments for cancer developed through the amazing research that is carried out throughout the World. Sadly, the ultimate treatment - the cure - was not available for them, but that's not to say it cannot be for future cancer patients.
We need this research to continue to develop more targeted and effective treatments that can be made available to all, whilst searching for a cure to end all cancers.
In honour of Alan and Yvette's love of life, please donate what you can.
Thank you.
Vivien xx
