Midnight Sun Marathon 2016 · 18 June 2016

We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

Welcome to my JustGiving page!

On June 18, I will be running the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso, Northern Norway, on behalf of  NSPCC, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

Located c.1,800km north of Oslo and c.350km north of the Arctic Circle, Tromso is a small city on an island off mainland Norway, famous for the northern lights in the winter and for the midnight sun in the summer. Every year, from mid-May until approximately the end of July, the sun remains constantly visible over the horizon throughout the day. For over 60 days during the summer there is therefore no darkness whatsoever observed in the area.

Dubbed "the world's northernmost race", the Midnight Sun Marathon, which will be my first ever marathon, starts at 8pm on June 18 and runners therefore race in broad daylight.

NSPCC is a UK-based children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands by helping children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, by protecting those at risk and by finding the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.

Our collective kindness and thoughtfulness can be life affirming and will no doubt change many lives - the lives of many horrifically violated children, therefore please donate generously!
