Story
Our mission is global
Hi all,
We are raising money for our 2020 charity partner, the World Literacy Foundation, with our summer challenge! We want to go around the world in 80 days, by visiting our major offices, that's 45,926.8km.
During this ‘current normal’ we will be doing a virtual mission, where employees can log the kilometres they cover either via running, walking, cycling, paddling, swimming or any other self-propelled locomotion.
As we virtually make out way around the world via our major office locations, the charity will be supplying us with interesting statistics and stories from their projects in those countries we pass through. For starters, did you know that 750 million people worldwide are illiterate, and 2 billion people struggle to read a sentence? This causes a massive attainment gab and barrier to future opportunities. WLF brings the freedom of literacy through a range of innovative and scalable projects across the world.
These stories and stats will let us see the work that WLF is doing in each of our regions as they go about their version of delivering ‘more stories, better told’ by promoting literacy.
We are asking all those who take part in the challenge to raise money either by personal donations or fund-raising. All who raise more than $20 will get a unique VIZRT Group event fitness t-shirt to wear whilst working out. So if you are sponsoring someone or donating on behalf of someone don't forget to include their name :D
Fundraising - Here family and friends either can sponsor you personally per km, or the Vizrt Group team per km, or for completing the whole challenge.
Donating - if you want to personally donate, maybe donate the price of your coffee for a month, or by baking and selling cakes to refuel your colleagues, or you can be assured your donations will help in numerous ways:
A donation of $100 would pay for one Sunbook (a solar-powered tablet that helps children to learn to read in remote places without electricity) in off-grid communities in Africa
A donation of $150 would support a reading support project using smartphone technology and 1-2-1 reading tuition in South America
A donation of $50 would support WLF to distribute age appropriate and educational books to communities, working with teachers, educators and community leaders to deliver knowledge and power to those who need it.
Every contribution will help make a brilliant difference to the World Literacy Foundation and the work it does to bring children and young people out of poverty with the power of reading.
It’s a huge challenge, but just like our purpose, we can achieve it if we work together!
