Porterbrook Three Peaks Challenge by Rail 2021 · 9 September 2021 to 11 September 2021 ·

Railway Children has a vision of a world in which no child is lost to the streets. Across the UK, India and Tanzania, our networks provide an opportunity for us to reach children who are alone and vulnerable before they come to serious harm. Together, we’re determined we’ll leave no child behind.

Story

We all completed the Challenge as planned and Thanks to your generosity also were Cup Winners for the team raising most for Railway Children

We left Crewe as planned at 19.30 on Thursday. Snowdon was completed in the dark between 22.45 on Thursday and 3.30 on Friday. After an hour's sleep on route to Scafell Pike we climbed the second peak between 9.50 and 16.30 on Friday. A problem with the train meant a 2 hour wait in Ravenglass before setting off for Ben Nevis. We grabbed about 4 hours sleep overnight before starting the last climb at 6.00 on Saturday and finishing by 12.00. A long journey home (10 -11 hours)  followed and a good night's sleep on Saturday.

The weather wasn't too kind with mist and drizzle on all three summits but it didn't dampen a wonderful experience for us all.

From 9th to 11th September  a team of four from VolkerRail are taking part in the ThreePeaks Challenge by Rail in Aid of Railway Children
