Scally Rally · 17 April 2008

We want every child in the UK with a neurodisability like cerebral palsy - and their families - to have access to learning and life changing therapy, aligned with our Pace approach. Our specialist clinical, education and therapy teams work with babies, children & young people from 0-18.

Story

Yes it's certified we were mad.  A team of us entered this years Scally Rally, a 1000 mile drive from Calais to Rimini (Northern Italy) through the Alps over 4 days – in a purple Rover 218 that only cost £100!  More details here - www.scallyrally.co.uk.  Our theme was The Wacky Races – so Dick Dastardly and Mutley hit the road ably assisted by the Ant Hill Mob. We undertook this mad escapade to raise money for 2 excellent local Charities:

The PACE Centre and The Chilterns MS Centre

www.thepacecentre.org     www.chilternsmscentre.org

We set ourselves a really challenging target of raising:

£10 000

(equiv to £10 per mile)

Many team members have a close affinity with both these Charities and we agreed to split all monies raised equally between them (the money will initially be sent to PACE who agreed to forward 50% to the MS Centre). The PACE Centre will use the money primarily to fund a motivational ‘ramblers’ project to encourage children to continue to build on their developing mobility skills that they are learning in the Centre.  The Chilterns MS Centre will focus on equipping a new building with specialist furnishings that is due completion in 2009. (See http://www.chilternsmscentre.org/newbuild.htm)

We would be really grateful for any further support towards our target.  We can assure you that all money raised will go directly to the Charities – all costs of undertaking the Rally were met by the Team members.  The drivers Jez, Tim and Max had a great time and came 3rd overall - winning £400 for our charities!
