                             My story by Louie

My name is Louie Milo Starrs when I was in my mummy’s tummy I was diagnosed with spina bifida myelomeningocele & hydrocephalus at my 20 week scan. It was a shock and quite scary for mummy daddy & me.

It meant I wasn’t growing the same way most other babies grow & I was going to need some special care when I was born, my future was uncertain. There were lots of questions to be asked, some positive answers some not to positive.

My mummy & daddy decided to call me Louie which means “famous warrior” I knew with their help I could win this battle!

I was born in the 20th of February 2023 at 12:15pm to the circle of life weighing 6lb6oz here is we’re my battle begun.. At 3 days old I had my first operation to correct my spine and close my back, 6 days old another to fit a shunt this would help fluid drain from my brain & my 3rd operation at 9 days old to fix the shunt.

Operations, temperatures, infections, oxygen, catheters were my way of life. At 8 days old my mummy & me had our first proper cuddle, I was warm loved and full of hope now I was in her arms.

March the 6th 2023, I graduated. I moved to level 2 the special care ward. I’m now getting much stronger and on the right path home. Baby steps but lots of them!

can’t wait to come home to live with my family I hear there crazy! During my stay iv depended on surgeons doctors and nurses & alot the special equipment as have my baby friends around me. I would love to be able to find a way to say Thankyou for everything they have done, for the love & care I have received.

As you know I’m just a baby so I need a little help with his my crazy aunties have arranged to take part in ‘the kilt walk’ too raise funds for spina bifida myelomeningocele & hydrocephalus apparently they walk lots & people give them donations for a charity of their choice, they are more than happy to do this as they say I have already done my marathon!

So on behalf of myself, all my baby friends & my family, we would be so very grateful if you could lend your support for this special cause, times are difficult for everyone so even if your not in a position to help Thankyou for visiting the page & reading my story! It helps to raise awareness, I Thank you all so much from every little beat of my heart, Louie x
