Story
This page has been set up by Clare, Kate, Emily, Beccie, Maddy and Jamie. On 31st August 2018 we lost our much loved friend Becky, suddenly, to stomach cancer. Becky was an amazing woman and she is deeply missed by all who met her. We are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks on May 4th, in the hope that we can honor her memory and raise some vital funds for the hospice who cared for her.
John Eastwood Hospice helped to provide Becky and her family with the support they needed after her diagnosis and now we would like to give something back, to ensure that they are able to provide this same support to others in the future.
Each one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks is challenge in it's own right. Taken together, the hike covers more than 39km, across varied terrain ( note: the average time is 8-12 hours - sounds optimistic for a group of girls who haven't done any training!)
We'll start in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, head first to Pen-y-Ghent (694m) for some hand-over-hand scrambling, then drop on to the Pennine Way into Ribblehead, passing a stunning viaduct before ascending Whernside, Yorkshire's highest summit (736m). The final peak to conquer will be Ingleborough (723m).
Whilst we're terrified, we're ready for the challenge. Joy, love and laughter were at the heart of everything Becky did, and we're certain she'll be laughing as she watches us attempt this challenge!
