Story

Safe water is something we take for granted in the UK, yet, across the globe, around 1 in 10 households lack access to this most basic of commodities.

Collecting water is almost universally seen as a job for women and girls. Spending their days walking miles for water denies women and girls the chance of a full education or employment opportunities and, over time, water poverty prevents them from reaching their full potential.

am walking 10,000 steps a day for a week in May to raise funds CARE International whose work supports vulnerable people living in poverty, affected by war or natural disaster. I have seen for myself the difference they make to communities in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Women and girls are most affected by poverty, so CARE puts them at the heart of what they do, tackling issues of inequality and support them to reach their full potential. Your sponsorship will help CARE reach more people and achieve a world of hope, tolerance and social justice. I believe that's something worth walking to support.
