Walking for Fen · 1 February 2021

We aim to raise funds 'To promote research into all aspects of Alabama Rot in dogs on terms that the results are published with the aim of advancing education in the disease and guiding treatment and prevention strategies to relieve the suffering of dogs who are in need of care and attention'.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Sadly on a Monday 1st February 2021, we had to have Fen put to sleep as he was extremely poorly, and had been diagnosed with suspected Alabama Rot.  We have donated his organs to help the research into this dreadful disease. We now want to raise much needed funds to help better understand the condition and work towards finding effective treatment, and hopefully a cure.

Fen was a beautiful dog, our soul mate,  and we don’t want others to suffer in the same way. Fortunately, it appears that not all dogs are affected, but an early sign with Fen was a lesion between his pads, and eventually attacking his kidneys.

In order to raise money for AR research, I have set a personal target of walking 150 km during February. I have already started my challenge,  by completing 10km yesterday.  This is also helping to overcome the grief of his loss.

Every donation would be greatly appreciated 💕
