Te Araroa- Walk for Nell · 9 November 2022

The Remembering Nell Foundation has been founded to improve the lives and wellbeing of Young People in the North West

Story

This November I’m leaving life as I know it to travel to New Zealand and hike Te Araroa; a trail stretching 3,000km. I’m aiming to walk (and camp) from Cape Reinga at the tip of New Zealand’s North Island down to Bluff, the furthermost tip of the South. I’ll be walking almost every day for 4-5 months carrying everything I could possibly need in a rucksack.

I’ve chosen to dedicate my journey to supporting the ‘Remembering Nell Foundation’. A charity that funds specific projects supporting children and young people in the North West. Nell was a relative of a close friend who was tragically killed aged 14 in the Manchester arena bombing 2017.

As most people will know, hiking and being outside are what I love most and this trip has been top of my bucket list for a very long time. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to follow my dreams unlike Nell who sadly never had the opportunity to do the same.

Proud to know that every penny raised will go towards making a difference to young people’s lives, helping them do what they love too.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated. It would also be good if you could share this post. I’ll be posting many updates and documenting my progress down the trail on my Instagram page, @hiking_boote.
