Story

Change the lives of children and young people with learning
difficulties and disabilities in NI. Last year we missed out on so many
fundraising opportunities so now, when it is a bit safer, 4 of us are supporting SENAC by doing our own sponsored 13k walk in a local forest park following  COVID guidelines on 17th April 2021. We would be so grateful if you  could lend your support by sponsoring our efforts. We are living in very challenging times not only due to the pandemic but also due to the fact that it has become much more difficult to secure funding to deliver our services. Every year SENAC supports over 1000 families with children with special educational needs (SEN) by providing free, independent information, advice, advocacy and representation to ensure that children and young people have their needs assessed and provided for in school.  Many of our families have never felt more isolated, alone and forgotten, as they have had to home school for long periods of lockdown with inadequate resources and limited support against a backdrop of heightened anxiety and uncertainty about returning to a very different school environment. By sponsoring our small team of walkers, you will help make a big difference to the lives of many children and young people with SEN throughout Northern Ireland. No matter how little or how much you give we are deeply grateful in anticipation of your continued support.

About the charity

SENAC provides independent advice on getting the right help and support in school for children with learning difficulties and disabilities in Northern Ireland. SENAC gives advice and advocacy on a range issues like assessments, statements, appeals and helping parents prepare for meetings.
