Story

Hi everyone

Righty-o, for those who know me, you know what my family went through with Liam and also my personal struggle with losing him. Liam has a rare lung disease Pulmonary Hypertension Veno-occlusive disease. He was the youngest person with the disease. Since his diagnosis and passing his case has gone on to allow a path of investigations and studies on how this disease can be treated but it is still treated by lung transplant but also on how to get an early diagnosis.

On the 28th February 2020 it will be Liam’s 25th Birthday. So I thought why not challenge myself and here’s what popped up so here it goes.

On February 29th 2020 I will be going up, more like waddling up  896 steps at the Walkie Talkie. Every year I want to challenge myself and wonder what can I do for charity or even to try and make a positive out of a very negative and sad situation.

Not having Liam around and being a day after his birthday I know he would be ultimately be the first to take the mick and say ‘your havin a laugh the only exercise you do is to the fridge’ Yeah this is true. Although I spend most my time tripping upstairs or falling down them I thought this for me is a proper test and a bit of a leg burner in the first step in the right direction of doing charity events that can evolve me mentally and hopefully physically!

When I was younger I spent time at GOSH but it was with Liam where most my days were spent. To be able to sleep meters away from Liam and stay up with him and meet his heroes such as Frank Lampard it wouldn’t have been possible without GOSH Charity. My final memories of Liam were spent at GOSH and they are memories I will treasure forever. It’s taken me many years mentally to pluck up the courage to do something like this, although it seems like something small to me it’s more than that.

Any amount is generous enough, but my minimum amount to raise is £250 so spare pocket change is welcome too! Remember this is not for me but in memory of Liam, he most selfless, loving and caring young man and also to help GOSH provide for those families who may need the help in the future.

Lots of love and thank you

Sam xx
