Story
1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer - let's change that by raising money to support research and treatment, and encourage testing for early-diagnosis!
In October 2024, my Dad, Neil, was diagnosed with prostate cancer which had spread to 3 areas of his spine. A tumour on his spine, compressing the spinal cord, meant he lost feeling and mobility from the chest down. Thanks to immediate surgery, he's was given a chance of regaining full mobility.
In the months following surgery, Dad has shown a truly inspirational level of determination to get back on his feet, effectively learning to walk again, and we're all incredibly proud of how far he's come in such a short space of time.
I want to show Dad how proud I am of him, whilst raising important donations and awareness, by taking on my own walking challenge. So, starting on 30th April I will be walking from my home in Fleckney, Leicestershire, to my parents house in Bury, Lancashire. I'll be tackling the 130 mile journey over 5 days, camping along the way and carrying all the gear I'll need with me.
I hope Dad can join me on part of the walk, whether that's a couple of miles, or just from the end of the road doesn't matter, it will be a special moment for us both to work towards.
So, please give whatever you can to help make a difference. If you're unable to donate you can still help by spreading awareness - early diagnosis saves lives.
