The Safina Lion Conservation Fund is a UK Registered Charity (no. 1172709) created to educate the public about lion and wildlife conservation and to raise funds for important conservation efforts. Our mission is protect and monitor lion populations in the wild.

Story

Hi everyone! Thanks for coming to this page.

At some point at the end of June myself and Sophie as trustees of the Safina Lion Conservation Fund and a small team of keepers (including Roxy, James & Issy!) from the Cotswold Wildlife Park will be taking part in a 23 mile sponsored walk.

The idea of this walk is to raise awareness and funds for lion conservation, the importance of 23 miles is that there are only estimated to be 23,000 lions left in the wild.

This walk will hopefully be the first of a series of walking challenges that may coincide this Summer as we approach World Lion Day on the 10th August.

All donations received will go directly to one of the three conservation partners of the Fund, working in Kenya and Tanzania to protect lions in the wild. Due to the Covid-19 crisis wildlife conservation efforts are more important than ever as conservation organisations on the ground face the threats of a reduced work force and more funding challenges.
