Story
In May last year i lost my Father-in law to Prostate cancer. He had fought it for 10 years undergoing some awful experimental treatments. His bravery and determination to not allow this disease to effect his life was very inspiring. Considering my partner, my son and my own father i had to try to make a difference for them.
My father-in law had a simple operation and whilst he was in hospital a nurse noticed he was going to the toilet quite frequently. She told him to get checked out at his GP. He did, shortly after was diagnosed with Prostate cancer, but unfortunately it had spread to other areas of his body. It was too late for an operation so other forms of treatment were offered to him. Some of the treatments worked and some just brought agonising side effects.
He and his wife often stayed in a caravan near Boadway from which they would get on their bikes and cylce all around Evesham and Broadway. Even after they stopped going because of the amount of hospital visits they had to do, they talked with such fond memories of this area. When i found this walk through the area they held dearly i knew it had to be there.
There are 40,000 men who are disagnosed with Prostate cancer every year, yet very little funding is allocated for this particular cancer. Just by a small challenge i hope to raise more awareness and may be with your help too, achieve enough money to train GP's on Prostate cancer masterclasses or support research into new prostate cancer treatments.
I'm not just doing this for my family but for all the men and boys in your lives too. Please sponsor Walkingfortheboys. Thank you.
