Story
Our daughter Eira was born in 2016 and was diagnosed with the same bowel disease as William - Total Intestinal Aganglionosis. She spent the first six months of her life in Alder Hey where she had two surgeries. Since then she has been in the hospital many times for either more surgery, fighting infection or other complications of her condition.
Williams Gift has supported us as a family during our stay in Alder Hey more than once since the charity was set up. On one longer stay, they were able to provide Eira with the box of smiles, which was full of presents and activity books for her. We also received a little bag of help and vouchers for the coffee shop in the hospital. They also bought Eira’s brother, Gethin, a present so that he did not feel left out.
William's Gift was set up in memory of William Fenton who passed away in 2019 aged 6. William spent a lot of time in hospital & the family wanted to support others going through similar situations. The charity provides care packages for children & their families in hospital:
- A little box of smiles - for long term admissions - contains gifts to keep the child entertained & cheer them up
- A little bag of help - for parents on emergency admissions - contains toiletries and snacks
- A little bag of bravery - contains small toys & bravery certificate
The Challenge
Covering three consecutive days and is to walk up Snowdon and Cadair Idris peaks, both part of the Snowdonia National Park in Wales, then to finish with a walk across the Ceiriog Valley. We'll cover an approximate distance of 25 miles and climb a height of around 1,500 metres on the peak walks alone.
