Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi, I am Hattie, currently at Brighton university in my first year studying Business...and hi, I am Elisabeth, a first year student at Newman university Birmingham, studying Primary Education (QTS). We became friends at The King's School, Ottery St Mary, where neither of us exerted ourselves physically to any great degree! So, time for a challenge! We could have gone off for a nice vacation at the end of the semester however, we never did conform to the norm, so this summer we will be following the footsteps of thousands of pilgrims who walk the ancient pilgrim route from St Jean de Port in the French Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela. Picking up the route in Sarria, we will hike the last 113km of the way, carrying everything we need. Our aim is to reach the cathedral in time for the pilgrim mass at noon on Saturday the 1st July.
Having been a young helper with HCPT 141 and seeing the tremendous effect it has on the children's lives, dedication of the helpers and respite for the parents and carers, this walk will be worth every blister!
Jenny and Colin, the leaders of HCPT 141 East Devon run miles and miles around the Devon countryside (quite mad!) and their dedication has touched so many lives - it is an utter privilege to contribute in some small way.
We have been touched by knowing Sam, who went to Lourdes with HCPT and he loved it! In memory of Sam, help us to help others. We will remember Sam and pray for all those involved with HCPT at the shrine of St James.
Meanwhile...it's time to get out the hiking boots, the walking poles and start practicing! Please help us and wish us 'Buen Camino'. Gracias!!!
