Story
I like to give myself a fitness challenge each year and this year's challenge is to walk a total of 2022k throughout the year. I may even dig out my running shoes and run some of it!
It seemed the ideal opportunity to also raise money for my local hospice, Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court, to say thank you for the work they do and help them to continue to help families who need their support. They provide fantastic end of life care - they have been there and have cared for my family members and friends so wonderfully over recent years.
For those that don't know, Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
The care and support Sue Ryder provide is free, but it costs Leckhampton Court Hospice £10,000 a day to cover the costs of all their services. Every pound I can raise will help fill many more rooms with love; here's a few examples of how the money I raise can help:
- £5 could provide a memory box for a bereaved child
- £21 could pay for one hour of expert care, helping people live the best life they possibly can
- £60 could provide an hour of bereavement counselling for someone struggling with the loss of a loved one
- £145 could pay for a hospice nurse for a day
- £500 could pay for a bed for a day of inpatient care for a hospice patient
Thank you for your support.
