Story
We lost a loved one far too young, Stacey Higginbotham, that could've been prevented with the right help and we want to do what we can in her memory to create awareness and help to try and prevent anyone else having to go through the loss that we're all living with. Youth drug addiction is a huge problem in Victoria and its only getting worse. There are so many floors in the system and nowhere near enough beds for the high demand and getting into a facility is the hardest part. Families are out there spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, declaring bankruptcy in an unregulated system in the desperate hope to save their loved ones lives from this horrible epidemic.
YSAS are a not-for-profit organisation that helps young people experiencing serious disadvantage to access the resources and support they require to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. They support and strengthen highly vulnerable and high-risk young Victorians affected by, or at risk of being affected by, alcohol, drugs, mental health issues and social disconnection. They do this by developing a non-judgemental, caring and respectful relationships with young people and their families and communities.
We have organised a fun walk/run and sausage sizzle at the Albert park lake on jan 13th 2018 to celebrate what would have Been Staceys 26th birthday to raise as much as we can for this great cause and to make sure our angels memory lives on.
