Bagheads Angkor Wat International Half Marathon page

It's difficult to describe how proud of my Baghead I am. He trained hard, he ran fast. He absolutely hammered it! 1 hour and 50 minutes to run 13.1 miles is nothing short of ridiculous. I defy any of you to beat that time, ever. I'll always be annoyed that I couldn't follow him around the course but it was a pleasure to see the state of him at the end. Tom would have been proud. Well done.
It's also difficult to describe how taken aback we both are by the number of donations and the amounts some of you lunatics pledged. Really, thank you.
This site will still be live until March apparently so please feel free to keep donating if you feel so inclined. I'll keep this page updated with my duff foot. As soon as it's fixed I'll let you know when there's a half marathon I can actually take part in.
Cheers

It is with great regret that I have to inform you I am hanging up my running trainers and opting out of this run. It was all a ruse to take your money and it seems to have paid dividends. Thank you for your kind donations.
But seriously, to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I've done my ankle in. I was pretty sure it would sort itself out with a week until the run but unfortunately it has deteriorated. There's something serious going on in there and I'm off for an X-ray early next week. It would be daft to attempt it and I'm absolutely gutted. I said it would take a lot stop me, but this has.
Thank you so much for your more than generous donations which have far exceeded any expectations. I'm sure Unique Kidz & Co. will be ecstatic and hopefully the children will see the rewards first hand. If any of you want your donations back you can take a running jump! Or, obviously, I can endeavor to reimburse you half your donation. That's fair enough.
I was looking forward to never running again after this weekend, i'm far more comfortable on a bicycle. But, this means I'm going to have to do a half marathon some other time. Don't know when, don't know where. I'll make sure your hard earned donations see me uncomfortably sweaty as soon as I can.
Contrary to what you might imagine, I did put a lot of effort into this. Plenty of hours on that obnoxious thing one calls a treadmill and pounding the pavements of Phnom Penh. Along with avoiding the booze and eating well. What a waste of time. Nae, not a waste of time. We've raised an extraordinary amount of money for an extraordinary charity. That's definitely worth it. Thank you.
Speaking for myself, I couldn't wait to hold hands with my mate and skip through some temples, that said, he will probably do it faster on his own. Tom is still running!! 'After the surgery he looks in his best shape ever. More supple.' 32 hours until take off. He's still representing Tom Hardy and children. If you've got any change left please throw it in the pot!
Sorry I've wimped out. Thanks again. Shelby

This will be tough, really tough. For us. Running is boring; how people run full marathons we don't know. We drink, we smoke, we barely run and now we are going to attempt to run 13 miles in this ridiculous heat (it’s about 33 degrees outside as we write this). Imagine Withnail & I running on the surface of the sun. It won’t be pretty.
Excuses.
1. Tom Oglesby's coming out of retirement following
a major injury just for the cause.
2. Shelby's Dad and his missus have just walked from to John O’Groats (congratulations!) and he feels pretty inadequate in comparison.
3. The run is for a great cause in Cambodia. Runners from all over the world participate to support a ban on the manufacture and inhumane use of antipersonnel mines. Entry fees and additional financial support foster independence among landmine victims by helping provide prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs, and supporting other relevant and needed programs such as education and prevention of HIV / AIDS.
4. We like kids. This is a fantastic and appropriate charity. Unique Kidz & Co. is a charity based in that provides specialist and invaluable services for disabled children and their families. It held a special place in Tom Hardy’s big heart and since we lost him, his friends and family have raised a great deal of money for Unique Kidz & Co in his memory. This is our chance (and yours) to add to that pot.

The more we raise the faster we’ll run. Help us smash our £1 target. Dig deep if you can, don’t worry if you can’t, just wish us luck.
