Ward 308 Fundraiser is raising money for Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit ward 308 Just Giving page.
Ward 308 staff are raising money to convert the current ward bathroom into a one stop vascular treatment room. The approximate amount we would like to raise is £15,000.00.
A vascular treatment room would enable us to assess and treat patients more effectively by creating more clinic availability providing a swift more efficient service to vascular patients.
This would mean the opportunity to offer patients
- Faster triaging of vascular patients referred from the community.
- Provide an onsite room for vascular scans lead by a vascular consultant
- Potential for a compression stocking clinic and ABPI service (A service which is no longer provided by GP Practices)
- Management of inpatients with leg ulcers from other wards within Derby Hospital
Vascular disease is as common as cancer and heart disease and accounts for 40% of deaths in the UK and many of which are preventable but little public awareness is made of vascular disease. Ward 308 aim is to help as many people as possible from a condition that is extremely debilitating.
Some of the common vascular conditions that we could help treat if we had a one stop treatment room would be
- Arterial disease in the leg
- Claudication - Cramp when walking due to poor circulation
- Peripheral arterial disease
- Arterial ulcer
- Leg ulcers
- Diabetic foot ulcers
