Story
Hi I'm Nick Warde.
It was just a normal day on Tuesday 17th January 2006 when at 1:10pm whilst walking to get lunch with two work colleagues I was struck down with a very severe headache. I was rushed to Eastbourne Hostpital in an ambulance where after a scan they diagnosed that I had had a brain haemorrhage. I was then taken in another ambulance to Hurstwood Park Neurology Centre in Haywards Heath where after two operations and a stay for a couple of weeks I was able to go home and recover over the next five months.
Without the skill and efforts of my Consultant John Norris and his team I would not have recovered let alone be here today fully fit again.
I always knew that at some stage I would undertake some activity to repay my huge gratitude to all those at Hurstwood Park. On 1st September 2010 I will be starting my walk ("Wardey Walks West") from Amroth in Wales to commence the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path finishing at Cardigan 14 days later a journey of 186 miles with the aim of raising money for the hospital.
I will be regularly updating news relating to the Walk and activities and events surrounding this by my Blog http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=317671171828&ref=mf#!/group.php?v=wall&ref=mf&gid=317671171828
All your donations and support are gratefully appreciated and anyone wishing to join me for part of the walk is more than welcome.
As this project continues I have now held a fund raising day at Plumpton Races on 12th March 2012 and with the help of family friends and staff at Hurstwood Park have been able to add to the fund. The sun shone and we all had a great day and raised a decent sum of money.
I hope to continue the project with another fund raising idea in the near future - watch this space!
