Thank you for visiting the Warwick Lacrosse Fundraising Page. Please take a moment to read the information below and dig deep into your pockets to donate whatever you can to this worthwhile cause.
A team of fifteen, brave Lacrosse players from the University of Warwick took part in the Shakespeare Half Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2008 in order to raise money and awareness for The Alzheimer’s Society.
For those of you who don’t know, The Alzheimer’s Society is a charity which raises money in aid of people suffering from dementia, a disease which affects over 700,000 people in this country alone. Dementia is a progressive disease which erodes the brain, the most common symptoms being loss of memory, change in mood and communication problems.
Warwick Lacrosse feels very strongly about supporting this charity and a significant number of the individuals running have had personal experience of family members and friends suffer from the disease.
A Half Marathon is 13 miles which I think you will agree is an intimidating distance for anyone to run, especially if you are a lazy, boozy student. A list of the individuals who completed the run can be seen at the top of the page, please take a minute to see if there is anyone you know and to appreciate the challenge they undertook.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Please give what you can and help us reach our target – it all adds up, no donation is too small!
Many thanks for your help and support
Warwick Lacrosse!
