Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In response to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in south east Turkey, and it's devastation in northern Syria, we are launching an emergency appeal to raise funds for life-saving medication and supplies.

UNICEF have mobilised supplies and services to support the urgent needs of children and families affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Türkiye.

In Syria, UNICEF are working to ensure access to clean water, and seeking to secure children’s safety and wellbeing. While in Türkiye, UNICEF have mobilised vital emergency supplies and ensured access to safe spaces for children and families.

  • Safe water and nutrition – UNICEF's immediate focus is on ensuring there is access to safe drinking water, sanitation and nutrition supplies. In Syria, UNIEF have provided 400,000 litres of safe water within the first few days. This is critical in preventing illness in a crisis.
  • Healthcare and medical supplies – UNICEF are providing life-saving medical supplies. Access to clean water combined with health information for displaced communities in northwest Syria will help prevent a continuation of the recent cholera outbreak.
  • Warm clothes –  in Türkiye UNICEF are providing winter clothes and blankets to protect children from the brutal cold
  • Child protection – UNICEF are working with partners to identify unaccompanied children and reunite them with family. UNICEF are also providing children with psychological first aid and a safe space to rest and play.
  • Education – schools in Türkiye and parts of Syria have now been closed. Many of them now temporarily house the affected children and families. UNICEF will work with their partners to ensure children are able to get back into the classroom as soon as it is safe.

Please help UNICEF reach the children and families affected by this devastating earthquake. Donate today to our Türkiye and Syria earthquake appeal.
