Story
Waterloo 2oo Waterloo
Charlie Trietline, Lawrence Brennan, Jason Bellman, Rob Peasgood and Mark Antelme, five former Household Cavalrymen, are cycling to Belgium to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. We are hoping to raise much needed funds for the Household Cavalry Foundation.
This 260 mile trip will start on the 22nd April, 2015 and will be covered in two and a half days. It will see the team being set off from Horse Guards Parade, then onto Waterloo Station, down to Dover, across the channel to Calais, through Ypres and onto the battlefield where the Duke of Wellington famously defeated Napoléon Bonaparte 200 years ago, 15km south of Brussels.
Since Waterloo, where The 1 & 2 Life Guards, The Royal Horse Guards (Blues) and the Royals formed part of both the Household and Union Brigades, through to today, The Household Cavalry (The Life Guards and The Blues & Royals) have fought in every major campaign.
Following the regiment’s significant involvement in both Iraq and Afghanistan, it has never been more important to continue to support not just those with life changing physical injuries, but also the long term psychologically injured. This is what the Household Cavalry Foundation was set up to do.
