Story

Girlguiding Watermead Division are proud to be supporting the Rocket Round Leicester art event as part of their community learning programme. Over the next few months we will be engaging members with creative competitions, a division wide virtual sleepover, science based activities and a collective sponsored fundraising event in order to support LOROS.

LOROS delivers symptom control and end of life care for those with life limiting illnesses that is special and unique to each individual.  Patients and their families are at the heart of everything they do and we are fully aware that many of our members and their families have been supported by LOROS in the past. LOROS is about life and living. Its about making people comfortable and being there to help and support them and their family. They help people living with a terminal illness make the most of the time they have left. It costs £8.2 million each year to be able to deliver their services, all of which are FREE OF CHARGE to the service users. The NHS does give them some money, but they still need to raise at least £6 million each year from kind donations from the local community. They are very proud that 90p of every £1 received goes towards patient care.

The continued impact of COVID-19 and a second national lockdown is devastating, and they are facing a £2.3 million loss in raised income across the year. They need our support now, more than ever. We feel it is an important life lesson to be teaching our young members about supporting local charities and the work they do.

Thankyou for donating.
