The Wave Project is an award winning Charity currently operating in England, Scotland and Wales who deliver Surf therapy courses to vulnerable children and youth struggling with their mental health. This is done through a combination of surfing and mentoring. Courses are evidence based and proven to help improve the wellbeing, confidence and overall emotional resilience of participants. 

A group of super enthusiastic and committed Wave Project supporters based in Portrush & Benone are committed to doing what it takes to establish The Wave Project here so that this form of therapy can be offered to youth living in Northern Ireland. 

The need for such a therapy here is huge, a recent NICCY report has indicated that more than 20% of youth here are suffering significant mental health problems by the age of 18, that is 1 in 5 young people! The report also highlights the increasing prevalence of mental ill health of children and young people in NI in terms of scale and complexity. And finally, the report states that rates of mental ill health are estimated to be 25% higher in NI than in other parts of the UK.  

So please, join us and lets do something positive to help young people in Northern Ireland suffering from mental ill health.
