Wayne Jaffe is raising money for Team Lewis Trust
In memory of Lewis Crossley
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
Team Lewis Trust has been set up in memory of Lewis Crossley, who was 7 years old and passed away in November 2017 from T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Team Lewis Trust aims to support research into this disease as there is a need to further develop research and treatment into this sub-type of leukaemia that is currently lagging behind other forms. Team Lewis Trust will undertake fundraising and receive fundraising monies to enable the charity to make grants to further such research and develop new treatments and ultimately a cure for this disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I met Lewis at the finish line of my very first Ironman event in 2016. It was June and poured rain of biblical proportions throughout. However Lewis was such a happy and excited young man to see me that all the effort and discomfort immediately dissipated. I went on to support him further and he was the proud recipient a Iron kids t shirt and an Ironman medal donated by IronmanUK and which I had engraved for him.
Despite childhood leukaemia having a pretty good prognosis overall, Lewis sadly had one of the rarest types which proved difficult to treat and he died last year, aged just 8.
The family have set up a charity in his name and you can read more at the Team Lewis website. Advances in immunotherapy mean it won't be long before a drug will be available to treat other children like Lewis hence that is why research is so important. I am happy to raise funds for the charity at Ironman Spain on October 7th, and in doing so, missing out on a charity banquet on October 6th, being held in his memory in the UK.
