Month Walkathon · 1 February 2022

We support the thousands of patients and families at Sheffield Children’s, from across the UK and beyond, by funding the life-changing and the joy-sparking. We make clinical care kinder, and bad days brighter. We bring play, laughter and comfort to places where they’re needed the most.

Story

I my name's Wayne on February 1st 2022 I will taking on an incredible 30000 steps a day Month Walkathon in aid of the children's hospital charity.

Starting at 6am on Tuesday 1st February I will walk 30000 steps every day continuous for a month. Every penny raised will help the charity to transform the cancer and leukemia wards at Sheffield Children's hospital and to also help getting a new helicopter pad at the hospital in helping transport patients safely when sadly in need..

Wayne explains is motivation all though I've never needed it myself, I know how great the care is at Sheffield Children's hospital and just how hard the staff work. All I want to do with my challenge is raise as much as I can to help as many as I can.

The charity appeal for the new cancer and leukemia and new helipad is an opportunity to help young patients when they need it the most. So I'm going to give it everything I've got.

As well as a larger, brighter space there will also be a bigger and better playroom situated in the heart of the redeveloped ward.

It will maximize the view of Weston park, making patients feel connected to the outside while they are getting better. There will also be improved spaces to stay with their children.

Wayne has steadily been stepping up his training undertaking practice Walkathon's lasting six to eight hours.

Wayne continues my friends can't actually believe  what I'm doing, but it's because I'm so passionate about  the cause. It will be tough, but I'm quietly confident I'll be able to manage it.

We are so lucky to have Sheffield Children's hospital on our doorstep, it's up to us all to help where we can.

Freya Kingswood senior fundraising assistant at Sheffield Children's hospital charity added. We are thankful to Wayne for taking on this incredible challenge for Sheffield Children's hospital. His determination and dedication is inspiring.

We hope to find the cancer and leukemia and helipad, but it will only be possible with help from supporters like Wayne. Thank you, wayne on behalf of everyone in the charity team, we'd like to wish for your challenge.
